Titled "Brood of Cardinals" this detailed painting was created with a combination of sculpting and painting. There is a nest of baby cardinals, reminiscent of Angry Birds according to my kids 🙂 and a flying mother bringing her brood a worm. The background of the painting is painted in a beautifully textured white color sort of like the old world plastered walls of Europe. The 3D tree has lots of knots in the wood and is painted in complementary shades of dark and light browns to show off the texture of the wooden branches. The birds are also three dimensional and are a pleasing red color with hints of yellow and orange.
This work of art is created in a new technique developed by artist Nathalie Van. The tree and birds are sculpted and painted in a 3D detailed method which is super unique and non-repeatable. This is a one of a kind painting.
Please see the photos for all the details and this video on youtube to see the texture better.
This painting measures 36" wide and 12" tall and is painted on a 2" deep gallery stretched canvas with very thick impasto texture. I developed the medium for the tree trunk and birds texture myself and it’s not something anyone has done as far as I know. I tried to achieve a realistic tree texture in the painting including all the knots and holes in the wood that you would find in nature. You will really want to run your fingers along the branches to feel the amazing detail! 🙂 This is oneofakind wall art, maybe a great Christmas gift?
The painting is ready to mail out right away.
